The Cream of the Crop: Highlighting Laceys Milk at The Walled Garden

24th January 2025, The Walled Garden Marketing Team

Here at The Walled Garden, we believe that quality starts close to home. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Laceys Family Farm, located just a 6-minute drive from our café. Their exceptional Guernsey milk isn’t just an ingredient; it’s the cornerstone of the creamy coffees, indulgent hot chocolates, and freshly made treats that our customers love.

Meet the Farmers Behind the Milk

Nestled in the heart of the Chilterns, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Laceys Family Farm is a true testament to sustainable farming. Their dedication to the environment shines through in their participation in the Environmental Stewardship Programme, ensuring the land and wildlife are nurtured for generations to come.

This family-run dairy farm, now in its seventh generation, boasts a proud history dating back to 1884. Dan and Gideon Lacey, along with Ed and Will, have brought fresh energy to the farm while honouring their family’s farming legacy.

A Dairy Legacy to Be Proud Of

Laceys is home to a pedigree herd of 120 Guernsey cows, whose rich, creamy milk reflects the lush, chalky soil of the Chiltern Hills. The cows are milked just behind the farm shop, so what you enjoy at The Walled Garden couldn’t be fresher or more local. These iconic soft brown and white cows are the pride of the farm, spending most of the year grazing outdoors and staying cosy in barns during harsh weather.

Why We Choose Laceys Milk

When you taste a coffee or dessert at The Walled Garden, you’re not just enjoying a drink or a bite—you’re supporting sustainable, local farming. Laceys’ commitment to quality, care for their cows, and stewardship of the Chiltern landscape aligns perfectly with our values.

So, the next time you stop by, think about the journey behind your cup of creamy coffee. It starts less than 6 minutes away, with a dedicated family who has spent over a century perfecting the art of dairy farming.
